What? Haven't we heard that Apple is losing market share to Android? We sure have, but why would they care? They apparently hold an estimated 86% of the profits from smartphone sales. Compare that to Samsung who takes an estimated 18%. Canaccord Genuity analyst, Michael Walkley, issued a note to investors on Tuesday, revealing Apple's "remarkable" share of smartphone sales profits. AppleInsider got a copy of the note and published it.
If true, this stat is stunning. Everyone is walking around talking about market share and Apple is simply laughing all the way to the bank. We can criticize Apple for a lot of things (i.e. buggy software, phones that bend, obsession with thinness), but people seem to be happy with their products and Apple knows how to mark them up.
The note issued a positive outlook for Apple going forward.
Does Apple still have room to grow?

"We believe Apple is experiencing a record iPhone 6 upgrade cycle due to very strong replacement sales as well as from high-tier smartphone market share gains from Android," he said. "We believe these trends should result in very strong (fourth quarter of calendar 2014) smartphone sales and share gains for Apple.
