Apple was all set to launch the iPhone 4S in China today, but things haven't gone so smoothly. There are various reports of violence ahead of the launch. Apparently the store was supposed to open at 7 a.m., but at 7:15 a.m. the doors were still closed and people started chanting and eggs were thrown.
Bloomberg reports:
There was no reason given for the delayed launch and the large crowd was not happy.
In other Apple Stores in China the launch went much more smoothly. Either way, it looks like the iPhone is a hit in China and that is a very good thing for Apple and its shareholders.

Apple had advertised that the store would open at 7 a.m. At 7:15 a.m., people began chanting “Open the door!” and “Liars!” after a man said over a bullhorn that the phone wouldn’t go on sale today, without giving an explanation. Beijing police temporarily cordoned off the store after it was pelted with eggs from the crowd.
