Walmart closing music download service

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - August 11, 2011

Walmart is closing its music download service as it becomes the latest company to fall at the hands of iTunes. Walmart was once thought to be an "iTunes killer" because they were offering tracks for $.88. It looks like price is not the only consideration for consumers and the iTunes experience has proven superior. Walmart has decided to throw in the towel.

"After eight years in business, the Walmart Music Downloads Store located at mp3.walmart.com will close on August 28, 2011. All content in the Store will be disabled and no longer available for download from the store."

Oh well, it's on to Amazon's MP3 Store.
