Have you noticed mail notifications feel like text message notifications on the iPhone 6 when in vibrate mode? The iPhone used to vibrate twice (staccato) for incoming text messages and once (quick) for incoming email, but ever since the iPhone 6 was released mail messages seem to vibrate twice. It is frustrating as it makes you think you received a text message when you received an email. Going into the Settings app shows your iPhone is still set to vibrate once (quick) but the phone seems to ignore this setting. Apple has not yet released a fix, and there are several messages in the Apple Forums where people have complained.
The fix is pretty simple.
Tap Settings - Notifications - Mail then choose the mail account you wish to address. Tap on Notification Sound then scroll up on the resulting page.
Tap Vibrate, then look for Create New Vibration under the Custom heading.
You will hold your finger down on the screen to create a new custom vibration. Be sure to tap Stop in the lower left corner when you're done. Now save your new vibration with a custom name, and make sure it is set to be the vibration of choice for mail notifications.
This is the only way I was able to get my phone to vibrate ONCE for mail notifications. Hopefully Apple will provide a better solution in a future iOS update. This worked for me in iOS 8.1.2.
