Apple had a win in court this past week. A California judge threw out a lawsuit against Apple for selling faulty logic boards. The lawsuit accused the company of selling logic boards it knew were defective. The suit also claimed the logic boards routinely failed within two years. The judge found the plantiffs could not make their case.
Apple has rarely acknowledged issues with their hardware even though they routinely have faulty hardware. I have 2008 and 2011 MacBook Pro's and both have had logic board issues and both have been to Apple's repair depot. The MacBook Pro line has also suffered from faulty video cards in 2011.
The judge gave the plaintiffs until Jan. 22 to amend their lawsuit so perhaps all is not lost. Apple really should be held accountable for selling faulty equipment.
U.S. District Judge William Alsup in San Francisco said the plaintiffs, Uriel Marcus and Benedict Verceles, failed to show that Apple made "affirmative misrepresentations," despite citing online complaints and Apple marketing statements calling the laptops "state of the art" or the "most advanced" on the market.
