My iPhone 6 should be able to download my iTunes Match data over WiFi. It can, but the default setting seems to override WiFi and I found out the hard way. I got my new iPhone 6 and synced it to my Mac. Everything seemed fine as I chose the playlists to download via iTunes Match. I made sure I was on WiFi and forgot about it. The next morning I woke up to 10 emails and 10 messages from AT&T saying I was over my data limit to the tune of 5.5 GB.
The problem is there is a setting in Settings - iTunes and App Store for "Use Celluar Data." The default position is ON and it apparently overrides WiFi. I was definitely connected to my WiFi router yet my iPhone decided to download all my music over the cellular network. That one setting cost me $50 in over charges.
Beware when you decide to use iTunes Match with a new phone. Apple should definitely turn the default position to OFF, or pop up a warning message on all newly formatted iPhones. Don't be a sucker like I was. Pass this warning around to your friends!
