According to multiple reports, the iPhone 6 will feature a sapphire crystal display. The sapphire is very hard to scratch or break and multiple websites have published videos of people trying to scratch the display with keys and knives. This Chinese video takes on the sapphire with similar gusto, using coins, keys, nails, box cutters, and even pliers to destroy the sapphire. All of their efforts yield no results, but then they give it the ultimate test.
Watch what happens with a car runs over the sapphire crystal. Will it survive?
These tests are extreme and mostly irrelevant because the sapphire screen is not installed. I'm sure a drop test would be different if it had the weight of an actual phone attached to the display. It does reveal why Apple chose sapphire though. It is tough to damage. So much for screen protectors.
