Apple wants iPhone 4 and 4S owners to upgrade and they have launched a special program in their retails stores to make it happen. Apple has been sending out emails to its customers encouraging them to visit a retails store to upgrade their old iPhone.
The email reads in part:
"It’s a beautiful time for an upgrade. You may be eligible for upgrade pricing on a new iPhone. And if you bring in your old iPhone to be recycled, you could get credit toward a new one. Ask us for details.”
Apple is offering $99 for an iPhone 4 trade-in and $199 for a 4S. That means if you sign a new contract on a 5S you can get it for free if you trade-in an iPhone 4S.
Why is Apple getting so aggressive? They probably want to clear their stock of iPhone 5S and 5C models ahead of the iPhone 6 launch. In just a few months we should have a brand new iPhone 6.
