Is it just me, or have you also noticed that iOS apps (especially for the iPad) are getting more expensive? Remember when iOS apps were $.99 and the most expensive ones were maybe $2.99? These days, many apps are getting more expensive. In some cases, the apps have doubled in price in less than a year.
It seems like this phenomenon has happened in the last six months or so. Take an app like Diet Coda. I believe it was an expensive $9.99 when it launched, but these days it's already at $19.99. I've looked at other coding apps that used to be $4.99, but now they are $7.99. What gives?
The tablet is out selling the PC and as more people use them, developers realize they can charge more for their apps. The apps are admittedly getting more sophisticated, but come on. $19.99 for an iPad app is too much in my view. Do I think something should be done about it? No. I totally believe in the market deciding . I'm just noticing that prices are going up and I hope the market will decide. I hope consumers will decide not to pay those prices for apps.
What do you think? Are these expensive apps worth it?
