Apple has added a section to the App Store for iPhone users to find alternative mapping apps. Apple CEO Tim Cook admitted today that Apple screwed up when it dumped Google as its source for mapping data. iOS 6 users have been very disappointed with the terrible Maps app that now sits on the iPhone's homescreen. Apple has officially apologized and now a Featured box sits in the App Store, helping users find alternative maps apps.
Congrats to Apple for stepping up to the plate and admitting their mistake. I don't remember Apple every apologizing like this before. Perhaps they could go one step further and bring back the old Maps app until they get their ducks in a row. Now THAT would be impressive!
