Reuters is the latest news agency to report that the next iPhone will have a smaller dock connector. Rumors have been flying for months that Apple will abandon the 30 pin connector in favor of a 19 pin connector. Reuters now adds fuel to the fire:
A lot of people will be upset at the change as older accessories will no longer work. Rumor says that Apple will sell an adapter for $10 which seems expensive. I have at least 10 charge cables around the house so converting all my cables would be expensive. I also have several other iOS devices that will still be using the old cable. Thanks Apple.

The iPhone 5, Apple's next generation iPhone expected to go on sale around October, will come with a 19-pin connector port at the bottom instead of the proprietary 30-pin port "to make room for the earphone moving to the bottom", two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.
That would mean the new phone would not connect with the myriad of accessories such as speakers and power chargers that form part of the ecosystem around iPods, iPads and iPhones, without an adaptor.
