Investor urges Nintendo to make games for the iPhone

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - August 12, 2011

Nintendo is being urged by investors to move into the smartphone arena for their games. Nintendo's stock is trading at a 6 year low, but President Satoru Iwataand has said the company will only make games for their own devices as long as he's around. At least one investor thinks the company needs to start making games for the iPhone.

“Smartphones are the new battlefield for the gaming industry,” said Ohki, a fund manager at Tokyo-based Stats Investment Management Co. “Nintendo should try to either buy its way into this platform or develop something totally new.”

Nintendo’s latest portable gaming system, the 3DS, basically flopped in the US and it looks more and more like Nintendo's star is fading. It's just so much easier for people to play games on their iPhones and iPads.

What do you say Nintendo? How about Mario Bros. for iOS?
