iPad users who like Facebook will be getting a dedicated FB app soon, if the New York Times is correct. Facebook has had an iPhone app for a long time, but they have failed to expand the app for the iPad. In the past we've seen the company quoted as saying the iPad is "not mobile" and therefore wouldn't get an app, but it looks like those quotes were either false, or simply a mis-direction.
The New York Times is reporting that Facebook has been actively working on a dedicated iPad app for nearly a year, and that FB founder Mark Zuckerberg has been heavily involved in the process.
"The app has been in production at Facebook for almost a year, going through several design iterations, and is now in the final stages of testing, according to these people, who declined to be named because they were discussing confidential product plans.
One person who works with Facebook said Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s chief executive and founder, has been heavily invested in the process, overseeing design decisions and the app’s unique features."
There is no official release date for the app yet, but we can't wait. Will you use the iPad app? Let us know in the comments.
