Apple has released iOS 4.3.3 for iPhone, iPad, and iTouch on AT&T, and iOS 4.2.8 for the Verizon iPhone, in an effort to fix the location data issue. As you know Apple has been taking some heat for storing location data on the iPhone. The new iOS release addresses the location data issue.
The new update fixes:
Reduces the size of the cache
No longer backs the cache up to iTunes
Deletes the cache entirely when Location Services is turned off
If you're sensitive about your location data connect your iPhone to iTunes to get the update. If you have a jailbroken iPhone you're going to want to wait until there is a jailbreak for the new iOS 4.3.3 or 4.2.8.
