The Verizon iPhone is barely out and iFixit has already done a tear down. What did their tear down reveal? It appears that the Verizon iPhone has a Qualcomm MDM6600 chip that supports high-speed HSPA and CDMA frequencies.
According to iFixit, it's the same chipset "as the Droid Pro world phone." That means Apple could have made it a world phone, and chances are the iPhone 5 will be a world phone. That leaves the door wide open for Apple to sell their phones to just about any carrier they want.
