iPad Pros and Cons

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - July 10, 2010

Apple made a big splash with the introduction of the iPad, but is it really a must have device? It is if you're a fanboy, but otherwise it's a luxury item. Here is our list of pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Battery Life is Fantastic - You won't need to charge this thing too often as it has 10 hours of battery life packed into it. I took an 8 1/2 hour flight recently and watched movies the entire time. When I landed I still had 56% batter left. That means I would actually get more than 10 hours so I'm not sure how that's possible, but it is.

  • Gaming - The iPad is a fantastic gaming device. Apple has so many games available and they all look very slick. Check out We Rule, Pacman, Angry Birds, Real Racing HD.

  • Books - The iPad is a nice ebook reader. The interface is really slick. The screen is a bit reflective so using an anti-glare screen protector is helpful.

  • Multimedia - Having a large screen for viewing video and photos is so nice. Show off your photos from your recent vacation on the iPad. The pictures look amazing!

    Cons:

  • Multitasking - The most obvious problem with the iPad is the lack of multitasking. Apple will be solving this issue in a few months so we'll be able to knock this off our con list, but they really should have had multitasking from the start.

  • Weight - Because the iPad is so thin you don't expect it to be as heavy as it is. You get used to the weight, but Apple really needs to get this thing to weigh about half of what it does now.

  • Weak WiFi - The iPad has weak wifi reception. If you're in a poor wifi signal area you'll be out of luck. You really need to be close to the router to surf the web.
