Apple is known for making must-have devices that we can't live without, at least that's how they market them. The iPhone has had so much success and the iPad is getting so much buzz, but Gizmodo is asking a very important question. How fast will iPhone and iPad hardware be obsolete?
We already know that iPhone OS 4.0 will not support the original iPhone. The hardware just isn't good enough. So a year from now when they release iPhone OS 5 will it run on an iPhone 3GS?
When you think about it, smartphones are developing much faster than computers. PCs and Macs still increase in speed and capability, but you can easily use a 4 year old computer these days. You might be running Windows XP, or Tiger on the Mac, but you can still get a lot done. Smartphones are different, and are developing much faster. Will Apple or Google support today's hardware with an OS they release 2 years from now? Nobody knows. Check out Gizmodo's blog post. It's an interesting question.
