iPad quickly gaining on Amazon Kindle's ereader marketshare

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - December 01, 2010

If you believe ChangeWave's recent survey of 2800 people, the iPad is seriously gaining on Amazon's Kindle as an ereader. The Kindle is still in the lead, but the iPad is coming on fast. What makes this survey especially interesting is that it focused on the ereader market and not just the general gadget market. We know that the iPad does much more than the Kindle, but the survey was specific to ereading.

At 47% of the ereader market the Amazon Kindles is supposedly down by 15%. Amazon does not release its number of Kindle sales so there's no way to tell for sure, but this survey sure raises questions about the Kindle going forward.

Keep in mind, Amazon has a Kindle app for the iPad so they are likely to get a lot of sales even if readers prefer to read on the iPad.
