Is the iPhone coming to Verizon in 2010?

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - December 12, 2009

Another rumor is floating around that Verizon will get the iPhone next summer. A recent report by analyst Gene Munster is fueling the iPhone/Verizon rumor mill.

"Gene Munster, senior research analyst for investment bank Piper Jaffray, said in a research note to clients Wednesday that he believes there is a 70 percent chance that Apple will launch a new iPhone with Verizon in 2010. Munster puts the timing of such a move around the middle of the year."

If Munster is correct this could boost Apple's phenomenal sales record because Verizon has more subscribers than AT&T. With 89 million more potential buyers Apple would surely make a huge leap forward in sales. With the strong showing by Google's Android OS, Apple certainly needs to stay on its toes.

To make the move, Apple would be forced to create a CDMA version of the iPhone to work on Verizon. CDMA phones are usually heavier and thicker. How will this affect the iPhone? Stay tuned.
