According to a report from Brighthand, 27% of the iPhones sold last year are unlocked and running on a provider other than AT&T. Brighthand says that according to Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi, approximately 1 million of the smartphones sold by Apple in the U.S. last year were bought by people who haven't signed up for an AT&T plan.
This is obviously bad news for AT&T, but its also bad for Apple who receives a percentage of the monthly fee iPhone users pay AT&T.
