RIM Chief says iPhone will boost Blackberry sales

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - March 28, 2007

It looks like RIM is not threatened by the much anticipated launch of the Apple iPhone. In fact, Research In Motion co-Chief Executive Officer Michael Lazaridis is grateful that Steve Jobs brought such a buzz to the smart phone market. Lazaridis was quoted in an interview saying about Steve Jobs, "He made smartphones cool again. Now everyone wants one. He helped the entire industry."

While some analysts are predicting RIM will lose big when the iPhone is launched Lazaridis sees it differently. "We complement each other really well," Lazaridis said. "We both focus on two entirely different markets. One is pure consumer and pure consumable. One is pure function and pure productivity."
